An interview with the new Saint Cupcake owner
New owner Alex Bond talks about 'Saint Cupcake 2.0"
Saint Cupcake to re-open both locations
May 28, 2014, Portland, Ore. – Saint Cupcake, the beloved baking dynasty that ignited a cupcake trend in Portland is set to re-open early this summer.
I don’t do cupcakes because of Saint Cupcake. I think their product is so good, I’m not even going to try to compete. When people call me asking for cupcakes, I say no, because Saint Cupcake can do it better.
The surprising national cupcake craze continues. Now MSN has embraced the little cakes, and its best list puts Portland's Saint Cupcake at the top.
Three weeks after moving their Northwest Portland bakery to the corner of Southwest 12th Avenue and Morrison Street, Saint Cupcake is settling in to their new, more expansive digs.
With a name like Saint Cupcake Galore, this Portland bakery is expected to make heavenly cupcakes — lots of them — and not much else. But while the cupcakes are, indeed, among the best in town, the talented bakers excel at much more than cakes that’ll fit in the palm of your hand.
My favorites are the toasted coconut cream and the chocolate with cream cheese frosting.
During my visit, I discovered that the only thing louder than a minivan stuffed with four little kids driving to a cupcake bakery is a minivan stuffed with four little kids driving home from a cupcake bakery. It’s hard to imagine what it would be like after one of the cupcake decorating sessions, which no doubt will be a hot birthday party option in the coming months. You can eat your cupcakes in or order them for special events.
