new boxes make for a safer cupcake

dear cupcakes,
we know you are precious cargo. sometimes when we’re driving you we don’t always remember that you are there. we’ll set you on our laps, we’ll put you in a basket on the front of our bike, we may even bounce you via pogo stick when we take you home. we agree that is no way to treat a cupcake. and it seems like you are often overly concerned with your appearance (the way you coordinate your sprinkles or have your icing piped on "just so") and by the end of a journey you’re left looking like shirley maclaine after the convertible scene in terms of endearment. we want you to know that no matter what you look like, no matter how your icing ends up you’ll always be delicious, ok? but with that said, we had some special boxes with special inserts designed to help keep you and all of your friends in place. you can now travel safely and snuggly by yourself (see below) as a 6 pack, a 12 pack, a 24 pack or a 36 pack. your little friends, the dots can go together as a 2 pack, a 12 pack, a 24 pack, a 48 pack or a 72 pack! we’ve done this to help you stay safe; you won’t tip over and you won’t end up squished. again, we love you no matter what you look like. we did this to give you peace of mind.
ps now you can stay magical AND stay perfectly quaffed. just like shirley.
attention belmont customers:
POSTED ON Friday, February 16, 2007 AT 23:58 by saint cupcake
it has come to our attention, several times really, that some folks in the belmont area are not pleased with the new shop. and when I say "not pleased", I mean rude and insulting. we are well aware of "the customer is always right" school of public relations, and we are really open to feedback and thoughts and whatnot (info@saintcupcake.com would love to hear from you!), but *whew*, we have had quite a few people tell us, to our faces, things like "this is stupid" or "this is not what belmont needs" or "this will never work" or "you’re a cupcake fascist".
saint cupcake knows that the belmont store is not like our nw store. we know that there is no place to sit at belmont; it’s not a cafe. we know that our cupcakes are offered in our most popular combinations and that every cupcake available is represented accordingly at belmont. we believe that we have something to offer everyone who comes in, and our happy customers are really REALLY happy. maybe saint cupcake should just let the joy of the nice people carry us, but it is hard not to say something. for the most part, we have had such a warm reception from the kind people of southeast portland. but, we have also had "feedback" from people - and some of it makes us really sad. sad about cupcakes.
but then we think how lucky these people are to have this be what they get so passionate about. big deal about global warming. so what that there is a war going on and no end of it in sight. no big deal that CBS cancelled armed and famous leaving erick estrada once again without work. saint cupcake doesn’t sell cupcakes out of a case on belmont and I’m mad as hell. that’s one lucky person to have cupcakes be what sets them off…
well, you know what, grumpy? the day you stop in for a box of dazzle pants on your way to an important meeting with important people, we will simply smile and say "thanks for coming in!" like we would BEFORE you realized we were only trying to make your life easier and add a fun flair to boot.
bottom line: we are just a really small, really local family owned business. we are not walmart. real, hard-working people make our cupcakes BY HAND everyday. we don’t think that we are really worth boycotting as one woman threatened (it is important to note that she told her co-workers about the boycott, then they came in to tell us that they didn’t like the idea of us selling our cupcakes in the combos but then they each bought one. i am sure they ate them before they got back to the office.) we don’t have investors, dividends, selling strategies, or an obligation to open bakeries and cafes instead of gift shops. frankly we are suprised at the controversialness our cupcake combos have kicked up. we can’t really offer an apology because we love what we are doing. we love saint cupcake on belmont.
thanks for listening to this announcement. we love you and our motto when people get mean: they’re just cupcakes. and yes, someone did use facsist and cupcake in the same sentence.
valentine’s day update!

hello loyal cupcakers!
happy valentine’s day!
we had to close our belmont location early today because we sold completely out of our delicious cupcake combos.
and to make things even crazier, we have to close our NW location at 6pm because our bakers can’t keep up with the demand. we’ve had a line out the door since we opened at 9am today…and we’ve been working harder than you can imagine!
please forgive us!
tomorrow we’ll have more cupcakes!
kiss your sweetheart for us!
