Gingerbread House Party

In case you hadn’t heard, a number of the staff here have begun collaborating on a spectacular gingerbread house. It’s still under construction, but I’m hoping for a fully functioning plumbing and electric systems in the house. The house is being made for the Festival of Trees, an annual fundraising holiday event at the Oregon Convention Center, December 1st-3rd. Here’s a look at the construction process so far:
A little Danny Elfman with your Big Top?

A recent study shows that your perception of the taste of wine is influenced by the music you listen to while drinking. Specifically, “people who drink wine while listening to music perceive the wine to have the same taste characteristics of the particular artist.” So how can we bring this into the world of baked goods? EASY.
What should you listen to while eating an alder-smoked cookie, to enhance the smokey characteristics? I’d suggest Joe Cocker, Macy Gray, or Tom Waits.
What about while eating a toasted coconut cupcake? I’d go with Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, The Ventures, or Chet Atkins (due to his fondness for the slack key guitar).
For our chocolate with cream cheese icing cupcakes (one of our most classic, popular flavors), I like to have Motown, soul music, or the Beatles playing.
If you’re going to eat our bonbonbunbuns and want the most heavenly experience possible, put on some gentle classical music, like Chopin, Claude Debussy, or Erik Satie.
We need to take advantage of this synesthesia and see what other taste sensations we can arrive at. Post your suggestions on our Facebook page, won’t you?
Friendsgiving

Not only does Saint Cupcake make pretty wonderful pies, Jami & Karla also would make a great band. And this could be their band photo. So, of course you know you should order your holiday pies now (503-943-9053 or 503-997-3674) but you should also consider buying their Christmas album. Now they just need to record a Christmas album.
Most people have Thanksgiving with their family, but most people also have a better time with their friends. That’s why we’ve created Friendsgiving - a new holiday for just you and your friends, where you can have all the festivity of a Thanksgiving dinner, without the druncles, drama queen aunts, or grandparents who refuse to leave, even long after the party is over. You know who I’m talking about. So this year, think of Friendsgiving when you think of Saint Cupcake, and have an extra turkey dinner just for us.
Finally, we continue our tradition of putting holiday-relevant animals on our cupcakes. For Halloween we brought you bat and owl cupcakes, for Thanksgiving Friendsgiving we bring you turkey cupcakes. No, not turkey-flavored, silly goose; these turkeys are made from a sweet, edible gum paste, and each turkey is individually handmade by our talented bakers. There is no mass production or assembly line here; we care for every turkey as if it were our own pet/dinner. They’re just $1 to add to any cupcake and we’d be happy to take your order for those any time as well (503-943-9053 or 503-997-3674).
Bonbonbunbun challenge accepted!
