a tragic loss

our hearts are broken today as we have learned that our sweet tracey was killed on her bike yesterday. our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. saint cupcake was blessed to have her on staff; she was always so sweet to everyone she came in contact with. tracey sparling was just 19 years old. a memorial ride will take place tonight in portland in her honor. she will be so missed…

ok, well FEATURED is a strong word, but look at our jennifer m. with al! we can only imagine what the interview would have been like. let’s imagine together.

al: hey, you look like you have a tee shirt.

jennifer m.: hi!

al: it says that saint cupcake loves me. is that true?

jennifer m.: saint cupcake!

al: do you like my orange tie? it has stripes. it’s just like fall, if fall had stripes in it.

jennifer m.: woo-hoo! saint cupcake!

al: does saint cupcake have pie?

jennifer m.: as a matter of fact, in addition to the best cupcakes in portland, oregon we also have the best pie around. we make a mean cinnamon roll, too.

al: who is that guy behind you calling? wasn’t he in silence of the lambs? ‘it puts the lotion in the basket.’  hahahaha! i loved that movie. ‘or else it gets the hose again!’

jennifer m.:

al: ‘do you know a jame gumm or a jamie gumm?’

jennifer m.: huh? no.

al: that was a line from SOTL.

jennifer m.: SAINT CUPCAKE!

why would you tag a cupcake bakery? sup with that, d? you must be related to the guy who robbed us the night before valentines day. i don’t mean to say that all criminals are related to criminals. i’m sorry for that snippy comment. please don’t be mad.

and please don’t effing tag our little bakery! this blogity writer personally and delicately hand painted behind that sign and now it’s defiled. you defiler. look at me, i’ve lost it again. i’m sorry.

if we got crayons and coloring books in the shop could that fill a void in your life? let us know.

we sure did enjoy you this year. but like every year, just when we get used to having you around, you leave. i didn’t even mind that the air conditioning in my car broke while you were here. it’s not that i think it was your fault, summer, but you sure made it noticeable, that’s for shizzle. you know we all wore flip flops for a few months because of you. we made sure our toes looked pretty and sometimes some of us shaved our legs, all for you. you gave us berries, sprinkler runs, drippy popsicle, mosquito bites, bbqs, beer in a can, fireworks well before and well after their designated usage date, hillary duff, chicago AND bon jovi on the today show summer concert series in rockefeller plaza, and the new and improved saint cupcake patio, filled to the brim with happy summer cupcake eaters. those are really nice things, summer. especially bon jovi and his big teeth.

you know when fall gets here to replace you for a while we will all still be ok. we’re not mad at you; we are not hurt. we just think that you don’t have to leave so abruptly. none of the other seasons do, just keep that in mind when you pack up your day spf 50 and go.

we’re just going to sit here under these fluffy umbrellas while you pack. don’t mind us. we are just going to think about the yummy fall menu of turtle cupcakes, cute cookies, upcoming pies and the new chai tea cupcake with cinnamon cream cheese icing.
