in honor of our youngest and only other store, we are designating february “saint cupcake on belmont” month. from now until the end of february (that’s the 29th, y’all! there’s an extra day to party!) we are having a drawing at the belmont store, se 33rd and you guessed it, belmont! here’s your chance, belmont customers, to be like jackson cafazzo and win a cupcake EVERY DAY FOR A WHOLE ENTIRE YEAR!!! all you have to do is go in, fill out the drawing slip, put it in the special saint-cupcake-win-a-cupcake-every-day-for a-year-drawing-bucket and tadah! if you are as blessed as our beloved jackson, you will get lots of cupcakes for free. only not all at the same time. you have to come in everyday or when ever you want a free cupcake, which for jackson, is everyday.

new year, new website

new year, new website!

well, hello there. and how are you? normally our director of cupcake affairs controls the bloggy-blog, but i took control today.
why? well, it’s a new year and i have been watching a lot of vh1 - they always seem to be counting down something or reviewing a year or a decade of some sort - it inspired me to reflect on saint cupcake’s 2007…so, here it goes:

overall, 2007 was amazingly good to little old saint cupcake. matt and i can hardly believe how fortunate we are that we have employees who want to work for us and that we’re having so much fun making the bakery happen. oh, and we also had a kid. his name is theo. he was born in march and is a happy, roly-poly little guy.

first, how do you like our new website? we think it’s pretty, well, pretty! thanks to needmore designs, we’re starting the new year with a new website. and, if you haven’t noticed, our new website has a shop! you can now buy saint cupcake apparel online. we’re going to be using the shop for much more in the future, so stay tuned!

it seems amazing to me that almost one year ago we opened our shop on belmont. we love being in that neighborhood and have a ton of fun splitting our space with Noun: A Person’s Place for Things. you should go shopping there. really, you should.

our cupcakes traveled to far off places this year - some lucky cupcakes even flew on Delta’s first non-stop flight to New York all dressed up with Delta’s logo on top. talk about first class!

this year we also had a beautiful cupcake case custom built for us - and we got busy on our outdoor patio and installed new tables, benches and lush new landscaping. oh, and we also got busy with some pink paint out there to match our pretty pink summertime umbrellas.

2007 was the year of the box for us. we went through many box designs and finally settled on something that’s not only cute but as environmentally friendly as possible while still being packaging. we even have our business cards made out of the box waste. for real!

it was an amazing year for us in the donations department - we made many new friends and donated thousands and thousands of cupcakes to great organizations throughout the city. donating cupcakes is one of our favorite things to do.

we made many, many, many wedding cupcake dreams come true in 2007 - nothing goes together like love & saint cupcake!

and we couldn’t talk about 2007 without mentioning Tracey Sparling. we lost Tracey in october and miss her very, very much. we’ve started a scholarship in her name that will be available to students in 2008. we’ll update the blog with information on how students can apply.

do you hate it when people say “happy new years” with an s? we don’t. we think it’s cute. like when grown ups still say “punkin” “irregardless” and “lacksadaisical.” we think that’s cute, too.

anyways…

saint cupcake and it’s affiliates (cupcake papers, the batter left in the mixing bowl, it’s employees, some spatulas, the cinnamon rolls, even the register tape) would like to wish each and every one of you a happy new year. it is our wish that you are happy everyday in 2008.  that means you need to take good care of yourself, treat yourself right and always be nice to people.

if your new year’s resolution has anything to do with being a better person, then you may want to consider buying some saint cupcake gift certificates to have on hand. they are a great way to say “i am a better person,” or “thanks for watching my cat while i was away.” plus you can get them in any amount so you’ll look generous no matter what.

just think about it….
