what’s wrong, cupcake?
POSTED ON Friday, December 26, 2008 AT 14:22 by saint cupcake

why are you looking so sad, cupcake? has the end of the year got you feeling all reflective and crap? maybe you didn’t treat the other flavors as well as you promised yourself you would? it looks like you got up on the wrong side of the tray…well, you’ve got to just bounce back and put your icing on one leg at a time like the rest of us. you’re a fine cupcake. we love you. we’re here for you.
stop by today and ask to see the sad cupcake. it’s really a freak of nature. a sad cupcake? huh?
poor thing. it just goes to show you, you never really know how a cupcake is feeling under the joyful mask of icing. we just assumed they were always happy.
honk if you’re sick of the snow

OMG. I cannot deal with the snow anymore. I strapped on my snowshoes this morning and hiked down to take a looksie at I-5…then I hiked right back home, sat in front of the fireplace and closed my eyes really tight. When I opened my eyes again, the snow was still out there. Our giant Doug Firs were still laden with ice. Our dog Mister Waffles was still neck deep in the yard. The delivery guy STILL couldn’t get here with my kid’s ultimate Christmas gift (a slide!) This isn’t Ohio! What in the heck’s going on?
Enough about my morning and my dislike of the current weather conditions. Complaining isn’t going to get me anywhere. Besides, all this has nothing to do with my reason for blogging:
OUR BELMONT LOCATION WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL FRIDAY 12/26. Repeat: our Belmont location will re-open on Friday.
OUR NW LOCATION WILL BE OPEN TUESDAY 12/23, but will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. NW will be open on Friday 12/26.
Just like they’re saying on the news, call before you come - just to make sure we’re still open. We can’t guarantee regular hours at this point.
Sweet!
look what landed at belmont!

last week while working at saint cupcake belmont, omi (the original belmonstress) was taken aback when this girl came in to buy some cupcakes. omi did what any cupcake pusher would do when they see their company’s signature wing logo tattooed on someone’s back: she grabbed her cell phone and took a picture. stunned and amazed at the back art, omi spaced on getting her name, but omi did the right thing by capturing our wings on her back on her camera phone. it’s proof!
when shown via facebook that her signature swirly wings have made their way to a tattoo on someone’s back, our dear friend and talented saint cupcake arteest, christin said, “OMG! tattoo’d? that’s amazing.”
though we don’t know her name or the real reason behind the ink (though we’d like to think she a) loves the design and #2) loves our cupcakes) we want her to know we love her. so if you see the girl with the back tat of our wings, (but you probably won’t see her exposed skin for several months around here) will you tell her that we love her?
and on a side note: burrr! it’s cold!
holiday hours and things

just a reminder, yo!
we still have saint cupcake holiday stocking stuffer gift certificates available for $2 each or 10 for $18….each certificate is good for one full size cupcake, normally priced at $2.50 each! oh the savings!
and check out our holiday magic boxes, back by very popular demand. word on the street is santa would prefer one of these to a plate of cookies. we think your boss might, too. or your clients, your dog groomer, your son’s second grade teacher, your next door neighbor, or your next door neighbor’s second grade teacher’s dog groomer’s boss.
please note that we will be closed on:
christmas eve
christmas day
new year’s day
mondays
happy holidays!
pie issues

hello blog readers! (it’s me, jami!)
can you believe it’s december already? time is going by so quickly that it’s blowing my mind. i, for one, feel that november was shorter than ever this year. which is sad, because november is a great month. that’s the month we got married AND it’s the month saint cupcake opened her doors. it’s election month. AND it’s the month of thanksgiving - which means pie (and cranberry sauce and stuffing!)
as i was making dinner last night for the two men in my life, i started thinking about pie. not difficult, seeing as how i was making a leek, potato and chicken potpie. anyways, i was thinking about pie. about rolling out pie dough and seeing those beautiful pockets of butter that will turn into perfect flaky deliciousness. about the things i like to fill pies with: pumpkin, apples, pudding, pears, caramel, various meats - all the good stuff. that’s when i realized two things:
1. i am so thankful for saint cupcake and all of the folks who work so hard for us.
2. i really miss making pies in mass quantities.
while the days of pies being available at saint cupcake are far behind us (so many cupcakes, so little time,) the thankful-ness is still in full effect. having people around to help with all the ins & outs of the bakery means that i can now do things like work on our fancy new online cupcake store (coming soon!) and go home at a reasonable hour to make dinner for my boys.
where am i going with this? (that’s a good question, because i’m known to ramble) well, blog reader, during this wonderful holiday season i’m feeling reflective and fuzzy and giving and more thankful than i can explain. and i keep thinking about those who could use a little help right now…therefore, saint cupcake is going to give a little back this holiday season…no, we’re not going to make you bring in a canned food item and in return give you a free cupcake. instead, we’re going to track the number of cupcakes sold the week of December 16th and then convert that number into dollars. we’re then going to take those dollars to the grocery store and buy as much food as possible to then donate to the Oregon Food Bank. it’s not a lot, but it’s something.
have a super holiday season. and remember: saint cupcake loves you.
ps: there are also a few things we’re not thankful for:
1. unoriginal ideas
2. flu season
3. lines at the post office
4. hunger
